Mission Statement
Shiloh is a Christian church committed to leading people into a growing and maturing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating environments where people are encouraged, equipped and empowered to pursue intimacy with God, community with one another, and to share His love and our passion with those outside the church with whom we have influence.
Core Values:
The Word
God's Word will be preached at full potency without apology, and always in love. We will have Bible-based teaching that is applicable to daily living.
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
Prayer
Prayer is our lifeline at Shiloh. It is our individual and corporate foundation, and encompasses every decision we make.
Philippians 4:6 (NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Holiness/Purity
We pursue holiness and character through a personal relationship with Jesus. In this age of moral relativism, God's Word calls us to set ourselves apart inwardly (perception and attitude) and outwardly (behavior).
Romans 8:5-6 (NIV) 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
Community
Shiloh is a place where people know your fears, failures, and dreams, but love you anyway. Everyone is encouraged to cultivate relationships and get into each other's lives.
Galatians 6:2 (NIV) Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Leadership/Authenticity:
Our leaders are real people with real testimonies you can relate to - nothing glamorous. We are open about our faults and shortcomings, but invite God to change our lives and habits.
1 Peter 4:11 (NIV) If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Outreach
Our passion for God creates an overflow we can't help but share. With millions of people lost in our own neighborhoods and around the world, we will look beyond what we do on Sundays and spread the practical love and life-changing power of God to those in need.
1 Thessalonians 1:8 (NIV) The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia-your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it.
Modern Relevance
God and His Word are culturally relevant and a vital aspect of a fulfilled life. We will get outside the Christian bubble and discuss issues that impact our lives and culture.
1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NIV) 19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
Passion
In a world full of apathy, we will strive to match Jesus' passion - passion for the message, passion for souls, passion to serve. Wherever we are and whatever we do, our lives will be a light to those around us.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV) Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
